The Vancouver bar and restaurant scene is ever changing, it seems like there is a new place opening up every week. I do love trying new restaurants. This week we accidentally stumbled upon The Vancouver Urban Winery which opened about seven weeks ago. The space is beautiful, lots of light and a mix of modern and heritage. The building is from the 1920’s but the interior is a mix of modern, industrial.
As you would expect there is a lot of different wines to choose from. We chose two flights, which was a good introduction to 10 wines, for the 2 flights it was about $25. We ordered a salad as well to share, the evening menu was ok, not great. I found the lunch menu much more appealing, next time I’ll be sure to go earlier in the day.
What makes them eco-friendly? They have introduced wine on tap to Vancouver, which in theory is more eco-friendly – no wine bottles to be recycled, so far a reduction of over 75,000 wine bottles.
Starting soon they will also be opening their brewery for tastings. Starting June 18th you can bring your growlers and they will fill them up. I don’t care for beer, but I do appreciate the concept.
